Accessibility Statement
Numinad is committed to making car rental price comparison accessible to all users, including those who rely on assistive technologies.
Our Accessibility Commitment
Numinad believes that everyone — regardless of disability, assistive technology, or situational limitation — should be able to search and compare car rental prices effectively. We design and develop our platform with active reference to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as our target conformance standard.
Accessibility is an ongoing practice, not a one-time implementation. We conduct regular audits of our interface components, incorporate accessibility requirements into our design and engineering processes, and prioritize fixing reported issues promptly.
Accessibility Features of Our Platform
Keyboard Navigation
All core functions of the Numinad platform — including the car rental search widget, location autocomplete, date pickers, vehicle filters, and result cards — are fully operable via keyboard alone. Tab order follows a logical visual sequence. Focus indicators are visible and meet WCAG contrast requirements. No keyboard traps exist on any primary flow.
Screen Reader Compatibility
Our search interface uses semantic HTML5 elements and ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes to communicate component state to screen readers. The location autocomplete dropdown uses aria-expanded, aria-haspopup, and aria-activedescendant attributes. Date picker inputs include descriptive aria-label text. Vehicle result cards are structured for logical reading order in both NVDA (Windows) and VoiceOver (Mac/iOS).
Color Contrast
Text and interactive element color combinations throughout the Numinad interface meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 Level AA contrast ratios — a minimum of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and UI components. Price figures, filter labels, and call-to-action buttons are tested against all background contexts in which they appear.
Scalable Text and Responsive Layout
All typography uses relative size units (rem/em) that respect your browser or operating system's base font size setting. Increasing text size up to 200% does not cause content to overflow, overlap, or become hidden. Our responsive layout adapts to all viewport widths without horizontal scrolling requirements.
Alternative Text for Images
Destination images, vehicle category illustrations, and provider logos include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes to prevent unnecessary screen reader announcements.
Error Identification and Recovery
Form validation errors — such as missing pickup location or invalid date range — are communicated both visually and via ARIA live regions, allowing screen reader users to receive error announcements without page reload. Error messages identify the specific field and suggest how to correct the input.
Car Search Widget Accessibility
The car rental search widget is the core interactive element of Numinad. We have paid particular attention to its accessibility:
The location autocomplete field is implemented as a standard text input with an associated listbox for suggestions. Users can navigate suggestions with arrow keys, select with Enter, and dismiss with Escape. The field announces the number of available suggestions to screen readers.
Date selection uses accessible date picker components with full keyboard support. Users can navigate months via arrow keys and select dates via Enter or Space. The selected date range is announced to screen readers using aria-live updates.
Filter controls (vehicle type, transmission, supplier, price range) use labeled checkboxes, radio buttons, and range sliders that are fully keyboard-accessible and announce their current state.
Third-Party Booking Platforms
Numinad's accessibility commitment applies only to our own platform. When you click through to Kayak, Skyscanner, Expedia, Agoda, or a car rental company's website to complete your booking, you are using their platform and subject to their accessibility standards.
Numinad has no control over the accessibility of third-party booking platforms. If you experience accessibility barriers on a provider's platform after clicking through from Numinad, we recommend:
Contacting the provider's accessibility or support team directly. Trying an alternative provider listed on Numinad that may have a more accessible booking flow. Contacting us so we can document the issue and consider it when evaluating provider partnerships.
Known Limitations and Ongoing Work
While we strive for WCAG 2.1 AA conformance across our platform, we acknowledge areas where we are actively working to improve:
Interactive map features for exploring rental locations at airports may have limited keyboard and screen reader support. We are evaluating accessible alternatives. Some dynamically loaded result cards may experience brief delays in ARIA live region announcements on slower connections. We are optimizing our loading state management.
We conduct accessibility audits on a rolling basis and maintain a backlog of accessibility improvements prioritized alongside other engineering work.
Report an Accessibility Issue
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on the Numinad platform, we want to know. Please contact our team at numinad-support@gmail.com with the subject line 'Accessibility Issue'. Helpful details to include:
The specific page or feature where you encountered the issue. Your browser and version, operating system, and any assistive technology you are using (e.g., screen reader name and version). A description of what you were trying to do and what happened instead.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 business days and to provide a substantive response or resolution timeline within 10 business days.
