Storage & Tracking Transparency

Cookie Settings & Storage Disclosure

A plain-language explanation of exactly what Numinad stores in your browser, why, and what happens when you click through to a car rental provider.

01

Why We Use Cookies and Browser Storage

To operate a fast, accurate car rental comparison engine across 200+ providers and 9 regional markets, Numinad uses small data files called cookies along with browser-native localStorage. These mechanisms allow our platform to remember your search preferences, maintain secure API sessions, and deliver a consistent experience as you compare vehicle options across multiple pages.

We use the minimum storage necessary. Numinad does not use cookies to build advertising profiles, track you across other websites, or sell your browsing data to third parties.

02

Cookie and Storage Categories

Strictly Essential CookiesAlways Active

These cookies are required for the Numinad platform to function securely. They include anti-CSRF tokens that protect our API requests from cross-site forgery attacks, short-lived session identifiers that maintain your connection to our search proxy, and locale resolution cookies that ensure you are served the correct regional portal (e.g., /us, /gb, /fr). These cannot be disabled without breaking the platform.

Functional Storage (Recent Searches & Preferences)Device-Only

Numinad uses your browser's localStorage (not a server-side database) to store your recent car rental searches — pickup locations, dates, and vehicle preferences — so you can quickly repeat a search without re-entering details. Your selected currency and display preferences are also saved here. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can delete it by clearing your browser's local storage at any time.

Analytics and Performance CookiesConfigurable

Anonymous diagnostic cookies monitor platform performance metrics including page load speeds, API response latency, filter rendering times, and error rates. These cookies contain no personally identifiable information — they help us identify when the search widget is slow, a filter is broken, or a provider API is returning errors. You may opt out of analytics cookies without affecting core search functionality.

Affiliate Tracking ParametersSession-Based

When you click a 'View Deal' link on Numinad, the outbound URL to Kayak, Skyscanner, Expedia, or other partners includes a tracking parameter (such as a subId or referral code). This parameter is a URL query string — not a cookie deposited on your device by Numinad. It tells the provider that you arrived from Numinad, enabling us to earn an affiliate commission if you complete a booking. The parameter contains no personal information about you.

03

Third-Party Cookies After Provider Redirect

When you click through to a car rental booking platform (Kayak, Skyscanner, Expedia, Agoda, or a direct rental company website), you enter their platform and their cookie environment. These providers may deposit their own tracking and functional cookies on your device under their own privacy and cookie policies.

Numinad has no access to, control over, or visibility into cookies set by third-party providers after you click through. If you wish to manage tracking cookies deposited by Kayak, Skyscanner, Expedia, or car rental companies, use their designated cookie consent or privacy settings upon landing on their platform.
04

Marketing Attribution Cookies

If you arrive at Numinad via a marketing campaign (e.g., through a Google ad, social media link, or affiliate partner link), our platform may capture UTM parameters or referrer information from the URL. These are stored in sessionStorage for the duration of your visit to help us understand which marketing channels are effective.

Numinad may also detect social media referrers automatically (e.g., if you arrive from Facebook or Instagram) to attribute traffic sources. This data is anonymized and aggregated — it is not linked to your individual identity.
